Privacy lesson for Edumais

For this project partnered up with EduMais, an organization working to provide quality education to underprivileged children and teenagers in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro.

One of the areas that EduMais is focussing on is providing their students with the opportunities to develop essential skills for the modern world, such as conversational English and Web and Game Design. In our conversations with Diana, the founder of EduMais, she told us that the kids in their school lack a basic knowledge and awareness about privacy and safe internet usage. To facilitate EduMais in incorporating this in their curriculum, we are working on a lesson plan about these important subjects. This lesson plan, based on the free lessons from the Dutch Authoriteit Persoonsgegevens (the Dutch Data Protection Authority), is meant to supplement the educational programs EduMais already provides to their at-risk students.

Because it is currently necessary for EduMais to work with remote education currently, privacy awareness is more important than ever. At the same time, introducing a new lesson while proving remote education is very challenging. Together with Diana, we continue to look at what is possible and how to incorporate this lesson in their curriculum.
